The Job
The Miggy character was an based on an existing design from Migros. It had been used in a bunch of Migros sale campaigns. We were tasked to redesign and rebuild the character, make it ready for the future, and produce animations and stills around their regular sale campaigns.
My Role
— Client point of contact for all production and financial needs
— Scoping, budgeting, planning, and scheduling all milestones/reviews with client
— Finding and booking freelancers / planning resources
— Clear communication between all stakeholders and personnel
— Managing team from design till final delivery
— Managing client reviews, approvals, and deliveries
— Invoicing, collecting final assets, approved credit lists and portfolio live dates
The Process
When we got the offer to take over the Miggy project, we had to rebuild and rig the character from scratch. We had to make sure it's able to stand on it's 4 legs like a pig, but also stand on 2 legs like a human, and anything in between. Miggy character had to be ready for any action, as Migros had big plans for Miggy.
The client wanted the full-cg tv-spots to be very minimal in style and without any dialog. Therefore we had to take extra care in directing the animation, to make it super clear in each shot what the character was emoting with it's face. Miggy needed to have big facial expressions but never stupid or scared.
The TV spots had 3 different versions for different sale campaigns per year, with the only difference the contents of the shopping bags.. It needed very specific products that were in sale at that moment. A detail hugely important for the client.
All the following projects were high-res visuals for use in print and online campaigns.
